Through interactive charts, maps, and data visualizations, users can explore New Mexico’s evolving energy landscape, compare trends, identify data gaps, and connect with the original sources behind the information.
The New Mexico Energy, Minerals and Natural Resources Department has been working with New Mexico Tech to develop DETECT: Data for the Energy Transition, Economy, Climate Change and Technologies.

Why DETECT?
New Mexico produces and uses energy through a complex system involving multiple industries, communities, utilities, agencies, and regions. However, much of the information needed to understand this system is distributed across separate databases, reports, websites, and formats.
DETECT connects, organizes, and visualizes publicly available information so it can be more easily used by researchers, policymakers, communities, industry, students, and the public. The objective is to support transparent, objective, and data-informed discussions about New Mexico’s energy resources, infrastructure, economy, emissions, technologies, and future needs.
